Fire
A trade name for reduced dark colouring, with a very pale, black-eyed form in some lines.

What it looks like
Fire lightens a crested gecko's dark colouring. Brian Burnett of The Bugg Plug, who developed the line, describes babies with a translucent look that colour up into vivid, high-contrast youngsters, then soften to grey at about a year old.
Burnett also notes a V-shaped mark on the head in many of them. In his line, two copies make the Blizzard, a very pale, nearly white gecko with black eyes. This Fire is different from the Flame pattern, which older writing sometimes calls fire, and from the everyday firing up and down every crested gecko shows, and it isn't automatically the same as the older Hypo trait. Blizzards are also sold as Black Eyed Leucistic, a name other pale projects use too.

The two copies that do survive
A Lilly White's two-copy form does not survive. This one does, which is why breeders took an interest in it.

Black Eyed Leucistic / BlizzardDosage form
A very pale, nearly white gecko with dark eyes. Several separate projects have produced this look. Blizzard is The Bugg Plug's name for the two-copy form in its Fire project, first hatched in April 2023. Other black-eyed pale lines haven't been shown to share its gene, so crossing them is no promise of a Blizzard.
Notes
How it is inheritedBurnett describes Fire as incomplete dominant: one copy shows as Fire, and two copies make a Blizzard. On his model, a Fire bred to a normal gecko can give Fire babies, and two Fires from his line can give a Blizzard. He reports producing Fire alongside Lilly White, Dalmatian, Pinstripe, Empty Back and Soft Scale, and his current animals include Fire Frappuccinos, which combine Fire with Lilly White and Cappuccino. It is still a young project, reported mainly by the breeder who developed it.
Where breeders differOther black-eyed pale lines exist, including projects called Pinky and GhostPax. No one has shown whether they share Fire's gene, so pairing Fire with another line is no promise of a Blizzard.
With other traitsOther black-eyed pale projects have their own carrier cues. Gecko Nerd, working a separate leucistic project, describes one-copy animals with softened, diluted pattern and a translucent look around the face, head and belly, and some babies with a Cappuccino-like tail that they grow out of. Gecko Nerd notes that other breeders report proven carriers said not to show these cues, so the cues are best read as hints within a line rather than a test for any gecko.
Where it came fromBrian Burnett of The Bugg Plug reports producing his first Genetic Hypo animals in 2020 and the first Blizzard in his project on 15 April 2023. He has since renamed the project Fire, and his September 2026 listing asks that animals from it be called Fire rather than Genetic Hypo. This credits his project, not every line sold as Fire.
In Gecktopia
Fire is incomplete dominant in the game, following The Bugg Plug's project: one copy lightens the animal and two copies make the pale, black-eyed form. The game treats Fire as one gene, although lines sold as Fire in the hobby have not been shown to be compatible.
