What it looks like
Every crested gecko has pattern on its back unless another gene changes it. Empty Back reduces the dorsal's pattern with one copy and clears it with two, while the side keeps its own pattern.

Reduces or eliminates dorsal/back pattern coloring while retaining pattern structure on sides. Heterozygous shows moderate pattern reduction on back; homozygous shows extensive back clearing. Antagonistic with Harlequin (overcomes concentration).
How to spot it
Empty Back animals show reduced/cleared dorsal pattern. Super Empty Back shows extensive clearing.
