Relatedness

Read the recorded family connection before choosing a sire.

The Pairing preview names a recorded family connection and offers See family connections. That view traces the shared ancestor through both parents’ recorded pedigrees, up to 6 generations. A missing family record means the relationship is unknown, not proof that two geckos are unrelated.

Related parents give hatchlings whose colour strengths vary less from each other. Nothing else changes: not how many eggs, whether they hatch, or conformation. If you want a wider spread of colour strengths among hatchlings, choose a less closely related male. Use the Choose a different sire control to return to Pairing, or compare the candidate again before confirming.

A family warning names the relationship and a shared ancestor before confirmation.
